Knowing Jesus: Part 1

I want to know Jesus. I want to want to know Jesus more than I do. His Father declared His pleasure with Jesus and tells us to listen to Him. So, I want to sit at His feet like Mary did and not miss what is "necessary".

I've decided to read through Hebrews. So far, I've been struck with this phrase and all that it means: "Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted." He's not ashamed to call us brothers and He knows our suffering firsthand.

How comforting to know that the Mediator, the High Priest, is like me. He can represent me faithfully to His Father...and He represents His Father perfectly to me.

If you could know how many times
I've watched you weeping
And I've wept the same
How I have ached so filled with longing
To gather you up here in my arms
You're alone, without home and forsaken
But I've made a way for you to be Mine

For I, I am, I am Redeemer
Your Maker, your Healer
Your King, who made Himself low
That you would discover
The love of My Father
Made known in Me

For every wound you've had to endure
I chose to endure it long before you were born
I'm offering to carry your burdens and pain
Your fear and your worries
Your sins and your shame
And I'm knocking at your door
And I'm waiting
For you to let me on the inside

You can lay your head on My chest
You can feel the warmth of My breath
You will know My love
You will find rest in Me alone, Me alone
(I Am Redeemer by Jeremy Riddle)
